German Village Haus und Garten Tour
Last night I entered the Fest Hall for the first time to attend the meeting for volunteers of the German Village Haus und Garten Tour which takes place this weekend. This is the 50th anniversary for the tour (and 49th anniversary for the GV Society).
During the meeting we received a packet of talking points and EXTENSIVE list of rules (mostly common sense things but they felt the need to point it all out to us). The GV Society also invited the two policemen who patrol our neighborhood for a quick discussion regarding safety in the village.
I have never been to the tour so I’m really looking forward to doing my volunteering in the morning and then taking the tour myself afterwards. I can’t wait to get a glimpse into the beautiful German Village houses and gardens. They still need volunteers so if you’re interested call Erin or Jody at (614) 221-8888. Also if you want to attend buy tickets now! They’re only $15 ahead of time (call (614) 221-8888) or $20 on Sunday. Also there is free parking at Grange Insurance at Front and Sycamore and there is a shuttle!
I had to leave early to meet a friend at MoJoe for a drink with a friend. Afterwards I started to make my way home and ran into two more sets of friends. Even at 9:45 p.m. Schiller Park was filled with dog walkers and joggers.
Make sure you check out the House and Garden Tour this weekend. If you get hungry, stop by a neighborhood restaurant for a meal!
